The Overcritical Parent

An overcritical parent is concealing his or her destructive behavior behind a facade of good intentions, as in, "I'm only telling you this for your own good." As if they knew what was good for him or even cared to find out. One of the worst criticisms is to call a child "stupid," as in, "Why are you so stupid?
